A Simple Wedding

Josh and I have recently been talking seriously about how we’re going to get married.

Oh yeah, I’m getting married!!

We announced it to family and friends, but this is the first time I’m putting it on the blog.  We want to have a very very simple wedding, with just close friends and family: nothing family.

Josh, being the outdoorsman he is (and loving him means also liking the outdoors a certain amount–something I’ve come to terms with!), we are thinking about a lovely backyard wedding.

Can you picture it now?  The oak trees hanging with moss, string lights hanging from each tree, tables with white table clothes sitting beneath while my cousin (Reggie) roasts a pig?  Just our close families and friends: small, intimate, lovely.

I’m looking forward to it so much, I cannot even tell you.

Here’s where we are registered: My Registry

Summer Concerts

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huuuuge music fan.  Dogs?  I love them.  Travel?  I absolutely love my weekend getaways (with Hildy! :) ), but none of that can come close to how much I love music.

Any music just ain’t music without a concert.  I like to get there super early, like, ridiculously fan-girl early, and be one of the first people in line.  You can find me in the front row of concerts, just rocking out.

There are a few concerts I’d like to see this summer (and some I wouldn’t be caught dead at).  Unfortunately, not all of the concerts are coming through here.  So lame.  Maybe someday I’ll move to L.A. or New York and just, see every single one.

Oh well.

KISS perform live at Allphones ArenaI’m actually really looking forward to the Skrillex Concert this summer.

Justin Timberlake is a bit of a guilty pleasure, but I am planning on catching him when he comes through.

Call me old school, but theK.I.S.S & Def Leppard tour is gonna be so cool.  I saw K.I.S.S. once when I was girl and wow–they really know how to put on a show!

Maybe I’ll see you there 😉

A Stranger In Moscow

I believe the Nobel committee didn’t give this award to me. I believe they have done this because they believe education is the best weapon through which we can fight poverty, ignorance and terrorism.

I believe they did this because they don’t believe in just one girl, but in all the girls whose voices need to be heard, who are under the darkness of conflict or poverty. This award is for my powerful sisters who have not been listened to for far too long.

And I raise their voices, I stand together with them.

I believe they did this because they believe we are #StrongerThan any challenge. We are #StrongerThan fear. This award is courage and hope for me and all those who fight for education.

When I found out that I won today, I was in school, studying Chemistry. I told my teacher I needed to finish my school assignment. Education is my top priority. I was learning with my friends, where I believe every child should be. But 57 million of them are still out school. We still have a lot to do.

The road to education, peace and equality is very long. But I know millions of children are walking beside me. If we go together, we will achieve our goals and we will complete our journey. We have to walk together.

I am honoured to walk this road with Kailash. I am honoured to walk it with you.

I invite you to join our movement to break the cycle of poverty and empower girls through education at www.malala.org

Meet Hilda, A rescue

Owning a dog is one of the best ways to increase your quality of life.

This is my dog, Hilda.

Isn’t she ADORABLE??!  (Yes.  Yes she is).

My life has gotten so much better since we adopted Hilda.  I’m writing this post because if you’re on the fence about getting a dog, I want to push you over that fence, and into the nice flowery pasture beyond that is owning a dog.

If you are looking to support homeless dogs and want to help them get adopted, check out the ASPCA. A donation of money or time to this organization will help countless animals.  I try to put in a few hours every month, as busy as I am.

Once you get a dog, there’s all kinds of things you can do.  Live in an area with lots of trails?  Go hiking with your dog!

Did you end up with a water dog, and live by the coast?  Hit the beach!

One of my most favorite things to do is to dress my dog up in people clothes.  My favorite thing is to buy stylish bandanas, but you can also get shirts, sweaters–even capes!

I’m looking forward to spending as many days as I can with this beautiful girl.

Hi there!

Thanks for checking out my blog.  I started this blog because I want to write about things I care about, and to have a place to show my mom (who lives far away–Hi Mom!) what I’m up to.

Tomorrow we are adopting a dog, if everything works out!  I will post a picture–she is just the sweetest thing.

Thanks for reading!
